Data Access Page - Need to add or manipulate data in field

Best example of what I am trying to do with a data access page:

Contact info. Change contact phone number and update database. I did
not use the wizard to create the data access page, but instead created
the page in Design view. How do I change the text control box to also
allow me to manipulate or add data in a certain field.
