Dark Video Capture Using Firewire

Hello, all

I just started to hook my digital camcorder (Sony TRV17) up to the computer
via firewire and i am noticing that the video on the computer is dark, (it
is not dark on the camcorder or tv display) i have tried to adjust the
brightness and contrast from my video card (ATI 9700Pro) It dont do anything
to the video from the camcorder. Anyone know how to adjust the settings to
brighten up the video.
