Dark pictures

Since installing Service Pack 2 my prints from an Epson
R300 Printer and using the Windows Fax and Picture Viewer
applications are all coming out dark. Other applications
do not seem to be affected. Any thoughts on/ solutions to
this problem would be welcome. Can it be related to
Serbvice Pack 2 or is it something else?

Help would be appreciated

I have the same problem; all jpeg pictures on monitor are very dark when
viewed by Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, for example, but when they are
printed they look ok.
Adjusting monitor to higher brightness can help viewing the pictures but
they are very light when you print them.
Could somebody help us?

=============================
Adjusting brightness / contrast on your
monitor should not affect printing. Try
the following...print one image and adjust
your monitor's brightness / contrast to
match the printed image as closely as
possible. Now print the same exact image
once again...it should look the same as
the first print.

To the best of my knowledge (R300M) the problem will go away if you turn ICM
off in the printer driver, or uninstall it, and reinstall. Some how the SP2
applies a double correction to the installed driver?

A driver uninstall & reinstall solved this problem on my system.

John, you'r right adjusting brightness / contrast on monitor should not
affect printing. I shoud say adjusting edited pictures to higher brightness
can help viewing the pictures on monitor but then they are very light when
you print them.
My problem is not with printing the pictures but rather with viewing photo
and any other video type or MP3 picture files.
Thanks for reply
