Damn Numeric Keys on Compaq Prosignia165

RE: Compaq Prosignia165
While I am doing fairly well learning how to work with the hardware on
this computer, I still can not figure out how to disable that damn
numeric function on the keyboard. If I boot to dos, when I hit the
"i" key, I get a "5". I have been pushing buttons and cant seem to
figure out how to get back to all alphabet keys. What's the trick to
this? (somehow I accidentally had it disabled for awhile, but it's
back). This is most irritating.....

Have you tried looking at the owner's manual?
Did you go to the Compaq website you were directed to?

It's a used computer. It does not have a manual.

Yes, but I did not find my answer there.

Normally this is controlled by the Num-Lock key but it is not
functional. Either the keyboard has an intermittent problem, or there
is some trick to this. I thought someone on this group might be
familiar with this computer, but I guess not.

Work the hardware?
I don't really want to know.

I feel your pain.

Yes,

The manual is on their website.
Used computers have manuals. Usually you can get them on the Internet.

I don't see a keystroke combination to toggle the keypad. Apparently
you can try setting it to one or the other in the BIOS. Then maybe
numlock will work.

You might have better luck in a group for laptops.
