CXT Modem Software Update

CXT Modem Software Update released on Sept 08, 2003 (for
conexant 56k ACLink modem) is listed as a critical update
for XP Pro. During installation it disconnects my modem.
After this happens, I am no longer able to reconnect to
the internet through my modem because the system no longer
recognizes it. I have to restore my system to before
trying to install this update in order to connect to the
internet. Is there a different update that has to be
installed prior to this one or is there just a major
problem with this update?

ou will likely need to uninstal the modem, and reinstall it.

don't use modem drivers from windows update. it is not
critical either. if you need a more up to date driver ,then
connect to your modem manufacturers site for the latest
drivers.

Thanks. My modem works fine after I restore my system to
before installation of the BAD update.
