customizing windows explorer view

Is there any way to make the 'folders' explorer bar appear automatically in
the left-hand pane when I open windows explorer? I mean, can I make the
'folders' explorer bar (which displays all the folders and subfolders on the
left-hand pane of the window) the default.that is, make it automatically
there when I open windows explorer? I hope I'm being clear. I believe this
used to be possible with other versions of windows and I wish I could make
it happen with XP.but I can't figure out a way to do it. Can anyone please
help me with this?!? Thanks!

Justin,

Add the /e parameter to the explorer shortcut.

"Explorer /e" opens with folder view
"Explorer /n" opens in normal view
