Customized desktop Icons for Excel workbooks

I have ceated a rather powerfull workbook using excel that helps my company
manage a large range daily tasks. This workbook is used by all office, sales
and management personel. A copy of this is kept on thier desktops. I have
been trying to come up with a way to change the appearance of the workbooks
Desktop Icon (maybe company logo) in hopes of making it stand out among all
the other Excel Icons on the desktop.
Is thier anyone out there who can help?

Put the excel file itself somewhere other than the desktop (My
Documents?) and put a shortcut to the file on the desktop. You can
then easily change the icon of the shortcut.
There is no way to make a specific .xls file have a different icon than
all the others.

Then you probably placed the shortcut by dragging the XLS from your Windows
Explorer? I tested this in W2k and found the same limitation. Not if you
follow either of the next methods.

If you place the shortcut by rightclicking the filename in Windows Explorer
and use Send to/Desktop you might be able to change the icon.
Or rightclick on an empty spot on your desktop, New/Shortcut and navigating
to the XLS will give you the same chance to change the icon afterwards.
