Customize outlook "insert signature"

R

Ronald Fischer

I'm using Outlook 2003 SP1. When composing email, there is a
button for inserting a signature. When I click this button, I
can choose between two entries: One inserts the signature
I have defined, and the other entry opens an Options dialogue.
Hence, to insert my signature, I need two clicks: First on
the icon, then on the name of my signature.

Is it possible to customize outlook so that I can insert my
signature with one single click instead?

You can insert your signature automatically.

I know this, but it is not what I'm looking for. I was asking for
a possibility to include my signature with a single click.

Actually, the "automatic inclusion feature" of outlook is broken:
If you reply to a mail, and have automatic insertion turned on,
it inserts the signature at the before (!!!) instead of after
the quoted text, such making the whole quoted text part of the
signature! Interestingly, this bug seems to be in Outlook for
ages, but Microsoft doesn't seem to care about it.

Hi Ronald,
I don't know what version of Outlook you are using, but when I have
the "automatically insert signature" feature turned on, (using Word as
E-mail editor)
and I open outlook for a new message, the Signature is placed on top of the
page with the mouse cursor "on top"! of it. Writing the message is pushing the
signature down, and it is allways positioned below the last line of the text.
Is it not working that way in your system?

Dear DAVE,

In your posting Re: RE: Customize outlook "insert signature" from Wed,

Of course it is. There are not many possibilities on where you can place
the signature in an empty document. But if you read my posting carefully,
you will see that I was talking about *reply* to a mail, not writing a
new message. And if you reply to a mail, the signature is - stupidly -
placed above the quoted text, not below.

Hi Ronald,
I have checked the "Auto insert signature" feature in my Outlook
for all options , New \ Reply \ Forward, and they all behave as I
wrote before, the mouse cursor is allways placed on top of the
signature when opening the message, and typing the text is pushing
it down.
Maybe you try to run the "Detect and repair " tool to fix it.

Sure it is. Where else do you expect it do be???

But this has nothing to do with the bug I'm reporting. I am complaining
that the signature is placed on top of the quoted text. So in the
reply,
you have on top the cursor, then comes the signature and then comes
the quoted text.

This has nothing to do with a broken installation. It is a bug in
outlook,
since it is even present on a freshly installed windows system.
