Custom scan comment

When I select custom scan and select, for example, to scan just one folder,
it first runs what seems to be the quick scan, then scans the selected
folder. As quick scan is a separate option and as on my system it takes about
5 minutes, this is an unnecessary nuisance. I would prefer custom scan to do
just that: scan the selected items.

Also, on the home page, status, after a custom scan it reports last scan as
full system scan (with the time and date corresponding to the just completed
custom scan).

We scan what you select and also some areas which we know spyware to hide.
You can think of custom scan as a quick scan + folders you select.

Yes, that is what I deduced, but the point of my post was to ask you to
change that. If I want a quick scan, I can choose that option. If I want to
scan just some folder and its contents (e.g. something I've just downloaded),
I think that is what custom scan should be for. Why make me waste 5 minutes
scanning things I don't want to scan at that time?

The parallel could be with AV software, that have the option just to scan
some selected files or folders. They don't then arbitrarily scan other things
not asked for.

Do you want the app to take some steps to try to assure itself that
something with rootkit characteristics isn't hiding the real content of the
single folder you are scanning?

I'm not sure this is the reasoning behind the quickscan.

Add scan option on the Window Explorer context menu so user can easily right
click the specific folder to scan.

After the first scan of Window Defender does it skip compressed files or
files that have not changed the next time it run the scan again? XP version
should have this features. it would probably improve the scanning

These are exactly the two questions I wanted answered. If I download, I just
want to scan that quickly, and the CACHE.

1. Make 'Custom Scan' scan the folder chosen only.....

2. Put Scan with WD (Windows Defender) on the 'Right Click' pop-up menu

I can use at present 1 x antivirus = 'Scan with AVG' and 1x malware = 'Scan
with Ewido'

GIVE ME DEFENDER ALSO...

You'd be surprised what's in the IE Cache..

As Many other users stated, Allowing an user to scan only "selected folder"
is time saving approach. Hope the developers work through it.
