CUSTOM BORDERS NOT "PDF-FRIENDLY"

I am using custom tables for a complex page layout in WORD 2007. Different
cells in different rows and columns have different paragaraph formatting,
some of
which require paragraph borders (like a bar-parenthesis e.g. | some subject |
some info. | etc. |).
However, once I "Save As PDF", then open the PDF reader to review my page, I
find borders with different weight (thickness) than originally specified in
WORD 2007.

What is happening?

Hi J.,

I'm not entirely clear on the borders you're using. Are you using text characters or Word's border and shading dialogs? Can you
provide the steps you're using in an example?

In some cases the same limitations of those being carried over to web page viewing also apply when using the Save as PDF Office 2007
add-in.

Hi Bob, thanks for responding.
Here are the steps in one example.
Split Table (3) > Cell One: Custom Style, Paragraph > Right Indent = 0.1" >
Apply Paragraph Border, 1/4pt, Right = 0.4 pt from text.
The character in Cell One is an Index Letter (with superscript). In Cell
Two: A verse reference (range of verses defined by the Index Letter), while
in Cell 3: A short description of the subject identified by the index letter,
which may wrap to the next line, in which case I return to Cell One and press
Shift + Enter, which carries the border (down) to the same line as in Cell
Three.
An entire "Structure" may contain several Index letters, which may include
several sub-headings, and their corresponding verses and subjects.
All of the borders are 1/4 pt. Some Index Letters appear in a "Host Table",
and some in a Nested Table.
NOTE: Under further review (after posting my initial question) I noticed
that the borders in the PDF document seem to vary in thickness (a sort of
"toggle effect") depending on the Zoom Level Setting in the PDF. As it turns
out, the "readable levels" (Zoom = 78%) appear to have a line weight that is
consistent with the formatting as applied in the original WORD 2007 document.
Perhaps nothing is wrong.
