Custom Animation within slides

Guest

I have created a presentation in Powerpoint XP and have set custom animation
on a bulleted list, so each bullet point appears individually on the screen
'on click', however, when the presetnation is run, the points appear
automatically 'after previous'. I have checked all the setttings and it says
'on click'.

I do not have an animation scheme set up and, therefore, cannot understand
why it is doing the opposite of what i have asked it to do. I use this
function quite a lot and have had no problems in the past.

Any ideas??

Thank you.

In PowerPoint XP, each bullet is assigned an animation sequence order
number. All bullets that have the same sequence number would appear
together. Also, in the Custom Animation pane, you need to set "On Click" for
each bullet. If you have the "On Click" set for only the first bullet and
"With Previous" for the rest of the bullets, then you would get the effect
that you are seeing. Please check this.

Hello, thank you for your reply.

The 'on click' option is selected for each of the bullet points, not just
the first one, that's what I don't understand. I have other presentations
with bullets in and these work fine....

Also, and I realise this is a different problem altogether, I have another
slide with several objects on it and i want each object to appear one after
the other on the blank slide. HOwever, when I run the presentation, the
slide appears with all the objects on at first and then each one is 'removed'
and is re-entered one by one. How do I get them to appear one by one on a
blank slide?

Hope this makes sense..........

THank you.

What kind of slide transition do you have applied to this slide? Is it an
automatic transition, perhaps?

What animation effect do you have on these objects? Is it an appear
entrance, or do they enter with a motion path?

Hello, sorry it's taken so long to get back to you.
With regards to the slide with the animation effects which were supposed to
bring each item at a time onto the screen individually, each object has a
custom motion path applied to each it. Does this cause a problem?

Thanks again.

Well, a motion path is not an entrance animation. It may seem like one,
especially if you start with the object off the edge of the slide, but that
object is really sitting there the whole time -- you just can't see it
because it's not on the slide proper.

With objects that *are* on the slide proper, you have to add an entrance
animation if you want them to be invisible until you're ready for them to
move along the path. An "appear" entrance is usually the entrance animation
of choice then. That should resolve the 2nd problem you mentioned below.

I never thought of that!! It's not an 'entrance' as such as it? It's just
moving an object on the screen. Thanks very much.

With regards to the other problem, still not sure what's happened, as that
slide does not have any custom motion paths, just entrance animation.

Thanks again.

You're very welcome. Believe me, you're not the only one this has tripped
up!

The "other" problem would be the one with the bullet points coming in all at
once instead of on mouseclick?

If so, then again, what kind of slide transition do you have on this slide?
Is it an automatic transition?
