Cursor not working

Word doesn't seem to be working for me. When I open a document, or start a
new one, the only way to get to text is to use the up, down, left, and right
buttons. The cursor doesn't work. You can't left click or right click, making
highlighting text or going to a certain area impossible. Also, because you
can't left/right click, you can't use the scroll bar on the right. Lastly,
when I try to open Word email attachments, they don't open. Any thoughts?

Does this happen in all programs? I doubt it's a Word problem because
the operating system controls the mouse.
