Cursor jumps or highlights when trying to type.

Running Windows 2000 Pro and when I am in Excel, Word, or Lotus notes (email
program) while typing the cursor will just jump from line to line or
highlight the entire line or even the entire workbook in excel. Is there a
key stroke that could have executed this behavior or is this an operating
system problem?

Sounds to me more like a keyboard problem..(dodgy cursor keys? cracked
controller board?). Have you tried a different keyboard to see if that fixes
the problem?
