cursor automatically repositions

When I am in EMAIL or microsoft word and I stop typing
for a moment the cusor automatically respositions itself
to the another place on the page and when I start typing
again it types at a new position. I then have to
reposition my cursor to get back to the line where I was,
plus delete what typed in the wrong place.

First, are you on a laptop? This is a common occurence if you have a really
sensitive touchpad (i.e. the touchpad detects that you "clicked" somewhere,
so the cursor position changes).

If you've ruled out this or any other hardware issue, run a virus scanner
and spyware detector.
