curser moves around at will

I can be typing along in an email and the curser "bings" and is called away.
A friend told me that some program running in the background is calling it.
What program? I don't think I have anything else running..

Open XP's "Help and Support" and type: TEXT SERVICES , and hit enter.
Then click on "Turn text services off or on". You need to turn-off Text
Services.

(security from what, ....... my fellow man?)

my standard answer for people seeking more 'secure systems'.

anyhow, i have a 'cursor' problem too, and seeing as how you were the ]
only one to answer the o/p's question i thought i would put this to you.

my cursor/pointer changes every 3 seconds from its usual 'arrow' to
the proverbial hour-glass. it has only started doing this in the
last
few days.
Yes, i have run all updates to the likes of adaware and my a/v program.
It smelled to me very much like 'parasite', but as nothing is showing up i'm
now putting it down to 'glitch'.
thing is, this 'glitch' is now annoying.....
can you offer any insight along the lines of solution?

graham.

You may call it a glitch, but something very real is happening when the
hourglass appears.
Get your Task Manger up (ctrl-alt-del) and click the Processes tab. Click
the top border of the CPU column two times in order to get the most
CPU-intensive processes to the top of the list.
Use your mouse to reduce the size of the Task Manager so only the part you
need to look at is showing, and move the Task Manager to a corner where it
will not impede your work.
Click the Taskbar button of the program you wish to work in to bring it to
the front (but with the Task Manager on top of it), and go back to work.
When the hourglass appears, you will be able to quickly glance at the Task
Manager to see what process is hogging the CPU.
