Current IE window closes

When I open a link, or select New Window from the File
menu, and a new window opens, my current window closes. I
recently re-installed all my software, so I figure that
there is a setting that I missed somewhere. Anyone have
any ideas how to get the current window to stay open? All
assistance is greatly appreciated.

IE>tools>options>advanced>disable 'reuse windows for launching shortcuts'

I don't know what happened, but this particular problem
just went away. Everything seems to be back to normal. No
changing of settings or re-installing.
