Cumulative days calculation in a time series

Can anyone help me to create a series which gives
cumulative days since a start date?
i have a series of data whaich comprises dates over many
years, irregular intervals, and I want to create a series
which gives cumulative days since start date. I cannot
copy and paste the A3-A1 formula because the formula
changes with each new cell....

Try formula A3-$A1... this will keep A1 constant as you
copy down.
