Ctrl+Enter does not work in Explorer

I just got Windows XP (was previously on Win2000). The
CTRL+Enter shortcut in Explorer no longer works; when I
try it, the status bar indicates it's trying to
access "http://(name).com", instead of adding the "www."
and ".com" automatically.
Anyone know why/when this shortcut fails? All others seem
to be working fine.

Using Regedit, browse to the following registry key and make sure the noted
setting is correct:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AutoComplete]
"Append Completion"="yes"

also see the following values:

"Use AutoComplete"="yes"
"AutoSuggest"="no"
