CS / Mouse Acceleration in games [logitech]

I came from windows 2k to xp, and when I switched I noticed that my
mouse wasn't working the same in games. It seems that the 'precision
mouse' "feature" in xp is carrying over into games. I'm not sure how 2k
did it, but I assume it either disabled accel. in games or just carried
over the low/medium/high from windows. How can I get this acceleration
turned off or better yet be able to mimic the behaviour from 2k.

I have tried the logitech drivers and my mouse feels different from
version 1.5 to 1.6 of CS and moves extremely slow in Firebird (Mozilla).
I don't understand why Microsoft would remove a feature and exchange
it with something else. Would it be better to leave what was already in
place there (to keep old users happy), and then add the precision mouse
thing as an extra bonus?

I guess most people will say to dual boot to 98 for games. I might just
have to. I would love a fix beside the registry hacks I've seen.

If you are using the Logitech drivers (9.79 for XP) the option to disable
acceleration in games is in the Mouse control panel on the "Motion" tab.

The disable mouse accel in games under logitech drivers still just dosnt feel the same as windows 2000. would be nice having a power toy fix for it to roll back to win2k style mouse accel

Hmmm, I guess I can't miss what I never had. Didn't notice any
particular difference going from Win9x/ME to XP. There was more difference
when I switched over to an optical mouse, but changed a few settings and
that feels 'normal' now too.

I had the same experience with the 'disable mouse accel.' I decided to
just switch to my Intellimouse Explorer and the accel in games seems to
be gone. Ploy against people buying other manufacturers mice?

Look at tweakxp.com. There are two registry files floating around
that enable/disable mouse acceleration under windows XP. I've
used the settings and they seem to correct the problem....

nah them reg patches only turn the smoothmouse curve down so it isnt as fast, its still not truely removing mouse accel :
just bring back the windows 2k style mouse properties!
