Cryptographic services missing message

I'm trying to do the update to avert the sasser virus
probs and in the process of the update I get a message
that the update.inf file has a problem and that
cryptographic services are not running. I've searched
the KdB and have not found any help there.
Thoughts/solutions? thx

Try these!,

Cryptographic services are disabled. Re-enable
Cryptographic services. Control Panel > Administrative
tools > Services > Cryptographic services (double-click)

Rename the folder windows\system32\catroot2 and reboot. That will
generate a new, clean folder, and you can then delete the renamed one.

Then get - only - Q817287 and install it, which should now be OK. It
is the cure for the problem: you should then be able to carry on with
other updates, and the problem will not recur

And first make sure that the Windows Firewall is enabled - that will
prevent things like Blast and Sasser getting in in the first place,
though you should still get the patches. Network Connections - r-click
the connection you use, Properties, and check the top box on the
Advanced page
