Crucial USB Device

My Crucial (Gizmo 128 MB) USB drive appears in Device Manager and
reports everything working OK but when I go to My Computer it has
changed to Removable Disk G:, where before it was recognised as
Crucial G:, when I double click the Icon in My Computer it tells me
the disk is not formatted, when I go to format it reports that Windows
was unable to format. I have uninstalled from device manager but
nothing has changed, still the same problem. My zip drive and external
hard drive are working perfectly from the same USB port. This has me
stumped any help much appreciated.

Try opening device manager and deleting the devices and
ports and rebooting. Then install the USB devices one at a
time.

Hi David,

Based on your description, the drive is already correctly detected and
installed as a removable disk G.

For formatting issue, I suggest you may check the following:

1. If there is a write protection switch on that drive, make sure you
enable it to write.

2. Make sure you are using FAT during the Format process.

If the problem persists on other machines too, the USB drive itself may
have some problems. Please feel free to contact Crucial Technical Support
at 800-336-8916 (US and Canada only) or 208-363-5790 or e-mail
(e-mail address removed)

Have a nice day!

I have a Crucial (Gizmo 128 MB) USB drive, I could use it on some lab
computers before, when I plug it into the computer, it appeared on the
right corner bar of the screen, and popup a window let you select to
display or to save images or something like that, but on some
computers, when I pluged it, USB device Icon just appeared on the
right corner, but no popup widows, I can not find it on My Computer
and file manager, but I check it in Device manager, it says that this
USB device work properly.

Now all our lab computer are updated, I can't use this drive at any of
the lab computers, the compter can recognise it, displays an icon on
the right corner of the screen, but I cann't find it on the file
manager.

Could anyone have any idea or same problem? Many thanks!

I you reply this, could CC to my email, cause I can't find this
message next time!

Have A look in Disk Management, if it is there format it in fat mode.
