Cropping pictures into Circular shape

Guest

Hi,

May I know how do you crop pictures or images into circular shape *only
using Microsoft Office - Word 2002*. I already know how to crop into
rectangular or square shape. But I am curious to know how to crop into
circular shape, can anyone help please?

If this is not possible, then I suggest that Microsoft need to think about
it. I already know that Microsoft rivals have this feature long time ago.
I'll not discuss about this issue any further.

Thanks

Kind Regards

Siva,
You can't crop into circular shape. What you can do is draw your circular
shape, double click it, on the colors and lines tab, click the listarrow
next to color, choose fill effects, click on picture tab, browse for your
picture, click on insert, OK your way out.
Does this help?

Thank you very much Luc! But that was *not* complete help although that is a
new procedure I have learnt...

I understood that is quite a good idea but I want to have a specific part or
area of picture to be inserted inside the circular shape without cropping the
picture initially somewhere else and then filling the effects in the circle.

This is very complicated to explain but I hope you understand what I meant,
if not I will give an example after your reply. But if this is not possible
then can you please announce this simple issue because Microsoft rivals are
having this facility for a very long time and I hope they know that. I know I
am saying this same thing many times...I am sorry but Help Me Help You.

Anyway I will wait for your reply

Please be so kind as to inform us: To what programs are you referring? Even
Photoshop doesn't offer a circular cropping tool... I'm sure Adobe would
like to know about it as well.

Hi Siva,

As Luc mentioned the Word cropping tool works in straight lines only. You may be able to use Word's ability to modify the outline
of a shape for text wrapping purposes, but it's fairly simple to 'undo' that, even by accident and would likely not give
satisfactory results.

If you can give an example of what you're trying to achieve and what word processing app you're using that allows circular cropping
(and the steps there) it may be that there is another way than to use graphics software to do the reshaping before inserting the
graphic into Word.

Hello Bob,

Very Sorry for not being kind but I want to know the facts (or truth),
that's all and I am very curious on how Microsoft is developing/improving. I
am only referring to Microsoft Office Word 2002.

Can I ask you one question?: Since I do not use Mac, does Office Mac offer
circular cropping tool?

If I am being very annoying person, then please kick me out the discussion
groups, so that I do not need to give anymore help/suggestions for Microsoft.

Thanks in advance

Kind Regards

The only software I have that will crop to circle/ellipse is Roxio
PhotoSuite.

Not even Corel Paint Shop Pro X nor Adobe Photoshop will do so.

What I have done is have a picture/photo of an analogue multimeter with a
circular selector switch. In Roxio I cropped the circular selector switch,
then pasted into Visio on an image of the multimeter.

In Visio, I can then rotate the circular selector switch to various
positions, together with the multimeter scale pointer, for meter reading
questions in on-line exams.

See http://tinyurl.com/yrcgqz for the resulting Visio file.

If you told us exactly what you need to do, we can offer suggestions.
