Critical Security Updates and Internet Explorer Updates

I recently updated my home PC using Windows 98 with the
CRITICAL Security Updates and the Internet Explorer updates
from the Microsoft Home Page. Since then, I get error
messages from Internet Explorer and cannot use my
internet! What do I need to do to correct the problem?
"Remove" the updates from my files?
