I just purchased Office Pro 2007 and I am having difficulty finding the
Create PDF icon on the ribbon in WORD. I can't even find a PDF command to
add to the task bar.

Because of legal issues with Adobe, Microsoft was forced to remove the PDF
code from the base software and instead offer it as a downloadable add-in.
You can get it from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...11-3E7E-4AE6-B059-A2E79ED87041&displaylang=en.

After you install the add-in, the PDF command will appear on the Office
button > Save As menu. A button for it can also be added to the Quick Access
Toolbar.

Hi Catch 22,

To add to the previous comments, if you use Word 2007's
Office Button=>Save As
Word should offer to download and install the PDF converter if not already
there. Once Office 2007 Service Pack 2 is released that ability will be
built in as part of the Office product.

The original issue was a legal one largely in the sense that there wasn't
time to resolve the issue of having the capability ship with the product,
to the satisfaction of the legal teams that the PDF capability was something
MS created from the available PDF 1 specs, and still get the Office product
on the stree and it became a downloadable choice. :)

In the past we were running XP sp3 with Office 2007. We had the ability to
use the save as pdf from a Word doc containing several links to pdf files
located within the same folder and they opened as pdf files with no problem.

After upgrading a computer with XP sp3 and Office 2007 we now find the
linked files are being converted as URLs, thus bringing up an Security
Warning, "The document is trying to connect to the site: ///file location If
you trust this site click 'Allow' otherwise Click 'Block' "

Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Interesting, and while I don't know the answer, I can point out that while
this occurs if you use tyhe Microsoft PDF plug-in for Office 2007, it does
not do so if you use Acrobat 8's add-in.
