Creating Icons*How??

How do I create my own icons for Folders. I would like to change some
pictures to be recognized as icons. In list view you cannot use pictures on
folders, the system only allows "icons". Thanks for any help.

Doesn't seem to work for "My Documents" folder. Anyway to change
the icon of "My Documents" folder?
