creating hyperlinks in Frontpage 2003

I am trying to create a hyperlink in Frontpage 2003. It will work when I am
in Frontpage, but when I try to view it from the browser the link will not
work.
How can I fix this?

How does it not work in the browser? An example would help us. Something off
the top of my head though, did you open just the page for editign or did you
first open a FrontPage web and then open the page? Sometimes people will
just open a web page directly and make a hyperlink. When you don't open FP
up to a directory first, FP doesn't know where the file is exactly and will
make a link that points to the file on the file system instead of a normal
link (in other words, a link to a page called mypage in the same directory
gets turned into a link to c:\some directory\some other
directory\mypage.htm, which won't work online).

It's really hard though to understand how they're not working without seeing
the HTML code for the page so if you can provide us with a URL for the
problem page that would help a lot.

When I try to access the hyperlink online it doesn't do anything. YOu can
click on the link and it is nonresponsive. The website is
www.bbarcpaints.net and I am trying to click on registration and release
forms on the News & Events Page.
It will link when I try it FP, but as soon as I go online and access it,
nothing. Do you need the page properties?

The links are pointing to your hard drive, not to a location on the server.

You didn't answer Mark's question..did you actually have a web open before
you opened the page, or did you just open a page? You must have a web open.

Then, you need to import the PDF files into your web, then create a link to
them on a page, then publish your web, not just a page.

You guys are great! I guess I didn't have the web open. I built this site
myself last year and I am still learning. That was a pretty important step I
skipped. Thanks so much for the help!

I am having the same problem with my site as well. I understand what you are
saying about the links point to my hard drive and not a location on the
server. Now lets break this down into more simple terms. How do you open a
web page and not just a page within FrontPage? Then, how do you import the
PDf files to the web, link them to a page, and publish them to a web not just
a page?

File Menu | Open Web / Site.
File Menu | Import the PDF into the current open FP Web / Site, then link to it.

I'm sorry for the repetitive questions about the same subject, but I am new
to this program and learning a lot along the way, so thank you ahead of time
for all the help.
I think I've tried everything possible to make my hyperlinks work online,
which still do actually work within FrontPage. Yet, nothing seems to be
working. Is there something starring at me that I keep missing? I understand
that while online, the hyperlink's properties say that they are directed
towards my hard drive, but I am still unable to change this. If anyone has
the time and patience, this website's address is www.huronmedical.com Thanks
again.

Did you actually create a web site on your local computer before adding and
working on pages?

If you have a web site on your local machine, did you actually open it first
before opening and working on a page?

My index and pages are all inside the same folder, which is labeled as
HuronMedicalCenter. I also made this folder the web folder and have re-linked
all my pages after importing them into it. I searched on other search engines
for tutorials on how to do this, I went through their screen by screen steps
and followed them perfectly. I have followed all the steps, advice, and
tutorials I have found within the Microsoft website and other reliable
sources, and it isn't working they way I am told it should be. I understand
that when I go online and try to follow the hyperlinks that they are *still*
pointing towards my hard drive, but the ways I've found to resolve this
haven't worked.

You need to open/create the web site on your local PC, import the pages
into your web, and then link to them. Then publish the site

File Menu | Open Web / Site.
File Menu | Import the PDF into the current open FP Web / Site, then
link to it.
