Creating contacts for non-english names

Is there any way in OL 2002 (on Windows XP) to create contacts using
non-english characters, such as the accented letters found in French or
Serbian names (such as: c ç c c )?

The OL help says to use the Character Map, but when I copy the special
letters into the contact form, it shows up as a ?.
