Creating Contact Groups in Windows mail

M

Marcia

My Vista Mail help files say I can create a contact group by clicking on the
"New Contact Group" on the toolbar. Problem is there is no "New Contact
Group" item on my Vista Mail toolbar when using the Windows explorer.
Despite looking through all the discussion group replies, and going to the
suggested tutorial, I STILL can not get the 'New Contact Group' button to
appear.
Thanks in advance for your HELP!

In Windows Mail, click on Tools, then Windows Contacts. If New Contact
Group doesn't appear on the toolbar of the new window, right click on the
empty space below the right side of this toolbar, then click on Customize
This Folder, then the triangle, then Contacts, then Apply, then OK. Close
the Contacts window, then restart Windows Mail. Go back to this Contacts
window whenever you need the New Contact Group button.

You're welcome in advance.

Thanks! But I've tried right-clicking everywhere possible! The best I find
is a right click that produces "windows live toolbar" "google" and "lock the
toolbar."

Obviously I can't even figure out how to post in these forums with trying 3
times, but I've been really trying with this newsgroup bit!

Thanks in advance, too!

Are you right-clicking on the large empty space in the contacts window?
Do you make sure the right-click is the first thing you do after opening
the contacts window?

Are you sure you're using the Windows Mail program, not the different
program with a similar name, Windows Live Mail?

Vista comes with one newsgroup server already connected, labelled
Microsoft Communities. I forget the details of how to get started in
it, though.

I still can't get it. I click on customize, but what is triangle? Contacts
is already shown on tool bar, but when I click on it i just get the list of
contacts. No new group! I never see any "apply" or OK. Appreciate a
response to D--- A--.

The triangle is to the right of the current folder type in the new window
that opens when you click Customize This Folder. The Contacts you
should then click is on the list that appears after you click the triangle,
not the one in the toolbar of the contacts window. Apply will be grayed
out and sometimes hard to see until you click the right Contacts. OK
should be visible, though.

Still trying with no luck.
I am doing sometjhin wrong, but can't figure it out. Maaybe it is the
triangle which I can't find. I do see add or remove, but that's it. .

Got it! The key was to initiallyh right click in the clear space at the
bottom of the Contacts list. Then follow your suggestions.

Add and Remove shouldn't appear if you're in the right place.
Are you sure you're right clicking under the right end of the
correct toolbar, and in the correct window?

Glad to see it worked this time.
