Creating chart.

I can't believe I have to ask this question. I have been using Excel for
ages, but for some reason this is eluding me. I want to make a simple bar
chart comparing usage per month. I want each bar to be labeled a certain
month at the bottom. Something like this (I hope this comes through):

U |
S|
A |
G |
E|______________________
Jan Feb Mar

Each time I do it, the months are in the series labels, but they only go in
the legend. When I try and label the series, it puts the date in the chart
on top of the bars to where you cannot read it. What am I missing?

Hi,

In your Chart Opions, Axes, with your Category (X) axis, try setting it
either on Automatic or on Category.

Does this help?

No, that was the first hing I did, all that does is label to Usage, which is
what the bars are, but each one represents the usage for a particular month.

Unfortunately I only have one (remaining) Bar Chart, but it does hav
Months across the bottom, which is where I believe you wanted them, an
your 'U S A G E' has been put down the left side, if you compare thi
chart (ignore the scroll bits and period selection) to your chart mayb
you can spot what you require.

Hello, Bryan!

Ok, it appears in the very beginning when it asks for the column or
rows, I
picked columns and that screwed it all up. It's all good now. Thanks
for
the help.

Unfortunately you did that on my (old) chart, and not on the OP's data.

The pivot table as such makes the Period and the Summary Level more
difficult to select, and although it allows the selection of
non-contiguous periods I did not see that as a requirement nor as a
sufficient advantage, however, if this in any way helps the OP then all
is well.
