Creating an x,y coordinate chart

I have a spreadsheet with two collumns of numbers in collumns A and B. I want
to produce a chart where collumn A produces the X axis values and B produces
the Y values. I want excel to plot the points where the values are and create
a line chart by joining these points up. I cant seem to get it to work!
Does anyone have any ideas???
Oh and if it makes a difference some of the values in the A (X axis) collumn
are negative so the chart would need to be able to display the negative
values in hthe x axis aswell.

Thanks in advance everyone!

Jon Peltier's chart tutorial should help you.

http://www.peltiertech.com/Excel/ChartsHowTo/index.html

or put the X and Y axis labels in the first row.

Highlight the data (and labels) in columns A and B.
Select the Chart Wizard
Choose XY Scatter and select the graph type you want.
Select NEXT
Series in Columns
Select Next
Fill in your labels as needed
I think you can figure it out from there.

Smintey,

It sounds like you need to create an X-Y Scatter chart with the series set
as "columns". Once the chart is created, double-click on the points and go
to Format data Series -> Patterns -> Line = Automatic. That should set your
line.
