Creating a third coloum in the data in the 1st 2 coloums are the same

Hi, 1st post!

I was tested on Excel the other day and I did okay at the basic leve
but one question thew me, it in fact threw me so much that I canno
even recall it in full but I wondered if anyone could take a look a
this and let me know if I am on the right track.

As far as I can remeber there was a singe excel file and it contained
Sheets. They both had loads of data in, however, the important part wa
that both sheets contained the topics "order number" and "produc
name", under these headings was an example list of made up data, thes
were the first two coloums on both sheets.

Now I think that the two sheets were supposed to represent differen
companies who sold similar products and my task was to add a colou
onto the end. The idea was for this coloum to indentify the product
that had the exact same name and order number. I tried doing this by
trial and error but I had only a couple of min left on the test so
never managed it. I was trying to get excel to come up with a "True" i
they were the same or a "False" if they were not, does anyone know if
was on the right lines here or better still know an example chart
could download that would show me how to do this? Is anyon good enoug
to explain it to me?

Thanks for readin

somewhere

=and(sheet1!a1=sheet2!a1,sheet1!b1=sheet2!b1)

will yield true if both are equal, and false if at least 1 is not equa
