Creating a simple form

I am always sending e-mails to a client for their reference numbers for
claims. I'd like to make a simple form for such e-mails (should I call it a
template???) I composed such a mesage and tried to save it as a template
(*.dot). It saved but it is a Word templae, not an Ottlook template or
form. I suppose I can cut and paste if I am stuck. Some postings her say
to save the e-mail "form" as *.oft, but I don't seem to have this option.

I am using OL 3003 SP3, with Word as the editor.

Word cannot save in the oft-format. You'll need to set Outlook as the email
editor when designing your template.

Roady is dead on about disabling Word as the editor if you need to save
composed items as templated (*.OFT). The flip side is if you tend to use
quite a few canned responses, then http://www.emailtemplates.com/ might be
right up your alley.

Thanks! But what a nightmare. I have a headache from constantly checking
and unchecking Word as e-mail editor. I now have a simple Outlook template
that looks fine, but only in (what I assume is) html, and only after I get
this threatening error message:

What's IE got to do with this? And does this mean my client won't be able
to read the message? Or will they be confronted with error messages at
their end? Not exactly the way to impress them!

I don't get the IE error message when I switch back to Word as editor. But
then the tabs in the message don't line up very well. Not much of a good
impression there, either. Do I accept the lesser of two evils here? Or a
3d: skip the whole form/template thing?
