creating a letterhead template in word 2007 using existing design

Hi,

I have recently designed a letterhead for a company to be printed in the
1000's

I was wanting to build a template that would have the letterhead design in
the background. When I go to page colour, fill effects, picture tab and
select the jpeg it looks fine in the sample window, until I click ok and then
it previews all black and weird.

Is there a more compatable file type than jpeg?

I dont mind supplying them with a formatted blank template but just thought
it would be nice if they could see what the letter looks like whilst they
type it.

Thanks for any help,

Em

A jpeg should be fine, but I do not understand how you are trying to insert
the picture.

You should open the header pane and then from the Insert tab, select
Picture.

I am not sure how you are going to ensure that the printing of drawing
objects is always going to be disabled.

Rather than inserting the picture into the document, I would have a userform
in the template into which the users would enter data such as the addressee,
address, subject, signatory, etc for the letter and have the picture appear
in the userform so that they will see there what it looks like.

See the article "How to create a Userform" at:

Hi Doug,

Thanks so much for your help. I do appreciate it. I tried the VB stuff and
unfortunatly it didnt work. Its way over my head and I must have done
something wrong to make it not work.

I just wanted the letterhead design to appear in the background (or header)
whilst the client types their letter. But I dont want it to print. I have
found posts that say "select the image in the header and select 'hidden text'
" but I dont think this option is available in Word 2007.

Would you reccommend that I supply the client with a formatted document with
placeholder text and a blank background?

Regards,

Em

Hello again Doug,

Just wanted to let you know that I have since found another post that has
helped me in what I was trying to do...

But there is no way I could have implemented the coding etc if it wasn't for
your response. Your response helped me to learn about Macros :)

Thanks again.

Emma
