Creating a hyperlink to bookmarked text within a single Word document

I am using Word 2000. I wish to add a hyperlink to bookmarked text within the same document. After selecting the text to be bookmarked I go to Insert on the Menu bar and select Bookmark. In the Bookmark dialogue window I indicate the text to be bookmarked and at that point want to Add it. However, the Add button is not activated (i.e., not "lit up"). Neither are the Delete or the GoTo buttons "lit up." What do you think the problem is?

Hi, Dale,

The Add button doesn't become enabled until you type a valid bookmark
name in the box. The rules for bookmark names are listed in the Help
topic "Add a bookmark":

'Bookmark names must begin with a letter and can contain numbers. You
can't include spaces in a bookmark name. However, you can use the
underscore character to separate words— for example, "First_heading."'

Thanks, Jay. Your reply hit the nail on the head. I had formatted my bookmark incorrectly; I had started it with a numeral and included spaces! When I rectified that, the Add button was activated! You can tell this was my first attempt at bookmarking and hyperlinking!
