As a new user before I start I wanted to check if I can create a database in
Access 2003 and then use it in Access 97?

All help appreciated!

It depends.

You can create a database in Access 2003 and convert it to Access 97 format.
If you haven't used any of the new features or functions then you have good
chance of converting the 2003 version into a workable 97 version.

If you really need to do this and if you can, you are better off doing
everything in Access 97 and then converting that up to 2003. As far as I
know there is no problem converting to a later version.

I don't remember where I read it, but it was recommended that converting
directly from 97 to 2003 could have problems. It was better to go 97 to 2000
then 2000 to 2003. I can't tell you the why of it. I did not pay that much
attention because I don't have any 97.
