Create 2007 run-time questions

I am a volunteer for our genealogy society and the society purchased 2007
Microsoft Access on their computer. I have 2003 Access and made a database
at home for them to search names and I simply copy the .mdb file each time I
update. Now, we would like to make cd's of this system so people can take it
home and use it on their own computers for research. Here are my 2
questions:
1) Will the run-time work if I save the .mdb as a 2007 Access file?
2) Do I need to worry about whether the application will run on older
computers? Is there somewhere I can find out what the minimum requirements
are for the people who want to load this on their computer?
Thanks! Sherry

1) Probably, though there are a few potential issues. Allen Browne has a
list of stuff to look out for when converting to Access 2007 at the
following URL ...

2) Microsoft's official minimum requirements for Access 2007 are at the
following URL ...

I think they're over-optimistic. I wouldn't like to have to use Access 2007
on a 500 MHz PC with 256 MB of RAM.

Hi Brendan,
Thanks so much for this info! I am a little confused on the requirements
though; it looks to me like you need to have at least Windows XP to be able
to run Access 2007 and I assume this would be true for the run-time version?
Do you know if there is any way to make one for Windows 95, 98, or know of
any other references? I am gathering as much info as I can before I even try
this.
Thanks, Sherry

The requirements for the run-time are the same as for retail Access, yes.
Access 2007, run-time or retail, will not run on earlier versions of
Windows, no. You would have to use an earlier version of Access for that.
