CRC Error

During my last backup I had a "CRC Error" message.
All of my programs appear to be running normally.
I have run a Defrag followed by Check Disk and that went through clean.
The error still persists.

Is there some way to isolate and fix such a problem?

CRC errors reflect hardware errors. They would be coming from the backup
file itself or one of the files which are being inserted into the backup
file.
This is about as close to a solution from what you have posted.
If you instructed the backup program to create a log file, the source of the
error may be displayed it it.
You may find information in one of the event viewer files.

Defragmentation was a waste of time.
Chkdsk may show some errors, and you need to inspect the log file which you
should have told chkdsk to make.

My guess is that there are questionable sectors on your hard drive. But
this is just a guess.

One further note: Did you tell chkdsk to search for bad sectors and attempt
repair?
