Crashing problem

it might help to know what windows system yer using. yes
there is a repair in control panel for ie, not sure it
will work any better then chkdisk though. what type of
adware can't you remove on your aunt's pc. yes if you
did a clean install of the system it will delete
everything, but your surfing habits.

I am running Windows XP on my PC.

The anti adware software I use is a package called adAware 6.0 which is a
free package (also Norton Anti virus).

Tanks for the suggestions I will try them out. How would you use Chkdisk to
repair IE. I thought it was more an overall scanner of the harddrive not for
specific packages.
