crackling speakers

I have Windows XP and I am having this crackling sound in
my speakers. No music or sound is playing just crackling
on and off periodically.
I went out and bought new speakers thinking that was my
problem but no, they are still crackling.
Very annoying.
Can you suggest a solution.

Check your wiring. This is usually a bad connection.
If you are driving the speaker directly from the sound card, the card may
have overheated and gone bad.
