My Compaq Presarion Laptop working WinXP Home Edtion seems to slow down and
lock up from time to time. There is still adequate memory available but
looking in Task Manager It shows in the running processes a file named
"WinXPDisableZeroConfiguration.exe" which is using up to 97% Cpu usage.During
this time the total CPU Usage is 100%.I presume hence the slowdown and
lockup. I can't find this file in a search of my hard drive or on the Windows
XP Newsgroups website. When I end the process
(WinXPDisableZeroConfiguration.exe)in Task Manager it does not seem to affect
the running of the computer, CPusage comes down to a low level and the
computer behaves as normal.
The file is however loaded at boot up with the rest of the processes
Can anyone tell me what this file is and does and where is it and do I need
it?
