Help. My laptop has gotten extremely slow. Have run Norton utilities, spybot, disk-cleanup, defrag. Was notified recently about a worm called myboot.a which I quarantined, then deleted. Nothing helped. It is a Sony with 950mhz processor, 384 mb ram. What else can I do? Elizabeth

Have you tried looking at the task manager? If you ctrl + alt + delete or
right-click on the taskbar, you'll be able to access a list of processes
which you can sort in processor usage and memory usage. You can highlight
anything that looks disproportionately greedy and 'end process'.

After cleaning my computer of the MyDoom.A worm I notice the start-up process to be extremely slow. After checking the task mgr I found the "sms.exe" to be consuming approx. 90% of the cpu usage. What is "sms.exe"? Can I eliminate this entry from the start-up process permanetly? I don't know if it is the result of the worm.
