Cpu speed auto detected?

Hi,

kind of a dumb question, but before I drop a pentium III 800Mhz cpu
into a motherboard (socket 370, which had a different P3 cpu before) ,
I wanted to know, do these P3 generation motherboards auto detect CPU
speed/voltage or do I need to look up the online manual and specs to
find out about DIP switches to set etc? I know that the board
structurally supports this CPU because it had a higher speed CPU in it
before (1000 Mhz)..

thanks

Yes, the vast bulk of them do.

specs to find out about DIP switches to set etc?

Normally not.

Should be fine, but you could specify the motherboard.
