CPU sounds after power failure

After a recent power failure my CPU now makes quiet noises when loading
pages, scrolling with the mouse, or during any motion in game play. It has
never done this before and I am at a loss as to how to correct it.

Any ideas on how to correct this annoying noise problem?

Also, any idea why this would occur after losing power, or how I can avoid
it in the future?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I think you mean the computer, not the CPU.

First after powering down, pulling the plug, removing the case cover and
making sure you are touching a part of the case to be grounded, check any add on
cards (sound, vid) and memory modules to make sure they are seated properly.
Then power back up and see if you can determine where the noise is generated
from. If it's a fan, you may want to replace it although it may not be
necessary. If it's a hard drive you may want to run a diagnostic on it to check
its integrity. You can get the diagnostics from the HD manufacturers support
site.
