CPU at 100%

When I have Word 2000 open, my CPU runs at 100%, even with no document
open. Everything is working fine, including Word, but the CPU being at
100% certainly slows things down. Is this problem a known one?

Okay, I lied. It turns out that the problem only happens when a
particular document is open. It is 20 pages and has MANY email addresses
and hyperlinks. As far as I can tell, it does not have any macros or
background processes running. I created the document myself from scratch.
