CPU always goes to 100% when processing video

Yep thats what happens everytime!, tried system restores, lots of various
programs,
but whenever i try to convert from 1 video format to another or burn to
cd/dvd the program always starts well but somewhere along the process the CPU
hits 100% and jams the whole system and a reboot is the only way out.
If anybody out there knows what the problem could be and could possibly
help that would be absolutely fantastic. Thanks Mark

Ensure as little is running as possible when you recode.... and if you can
tell us what program you are using for your recoding, it would be useful.

Secondly, the CPU will use as much of itself as it possibly can... same with
RAM. It's entirely by design. One single process taking up 100% for a
considerable amount of time may result in the problem you describe.... if it
happens immediately, you need to find out what process it is and either
uninstall/reinstall the third party recoding application or Repair Install
Windows XP.

Thank you very much for your reply, I,ve tried every variant i can think of, i.ve gone done to the bare bones and have very little else running at the same time,
reformatted the drive, reinstalled windows, run all the updates...though im
now aware that the problem of the cpu going to 100% on one task isn´t as i
originally thought confined to video processing(but its there that i can
always guarantee the problem occuring) when converting audio files it was
putting the cpu at 100%(but not stalling) and quite often "explorer.exe" goes
to 100% and a lot of the time does stall.
Just recently when sending this info to microsoft, for the 1st time there
was a reply telling me about a patch(i think) but when trying it came to
nothing because my "xp" is in spanish and the "fix" couldn´t deal with this.
Just 1 other thing looking at my processes i seem to have 3
explorer.exe..they are: explorer.exe
¡explorer.exe
¡explorer.exe

as for the video programs, i think ive used quite a few(with the same
result) nero being the most common.

They are probably working on the Spanish version. Keep checking.

Is this a notebook system? If so, ensure you have the drivers from the
notebook manufacturer's website (?Fujitsu)... and not from the individual
manufacturer's websites, for all internal devices.

notebook = laptop

Fujitsu do not manufacture desktops... at least not here in the US.
