CPU @100%

Hello

Can anyone help or point me in the right direction.
I have two hard drives dual booting 2 versions of XP Pro.
On one when I access folders the cpu usage goes up to
100% and the machine locks up.

If I access the same folders from the other windows it's
fine. Don't know what's wrong.

I've ran virus checks and spy sweeper.
All come out negative.

Thanks

.
Is the drive that reaches 100% your primary drive or
your secondary drive?

your secondary drive?

It's my secondary drive.
I had this running perfectly before.
I used to switch between hd0 and hd1 boot order in the
bios to get it to work. Which was fine.

This time when I had to re-install windows.
(Corrupt Video codecs, rendered all my mpegs upside down)
For some reason it created it's own boot menu where I
choose what operating system.
The boot.ini and ntldr etc are only on the primary drive.
Whereas before I had different copies for each version of
the OS. This time they seem to share.

I thought about disabling ide0 in the bios and doing a
repair of the windows on ide1 using the CD.
Don't know if that would fix it????
Or shoudl I just spend another day re-installing???

Thanks
