Courier Font non availability in win2k and word2k environment.

Why is the regular Courier font is not available or
accepted in Word 2000? Universal Pictures demands that
film scripts submitted to or commissioned by them be in
their format which requires Courier 12 font. The
alternative Courier New fonts forced on the user in Word
2000 documents adds approximately 2 pages to a 115 page
script written in regular Courier font.
I had Word 97 installed in my computer so I would have
use of the regular Courier font, but Word 2000 overrides
it.
I find Word 2000 an arrogant, less useful system than
previous ones, at least to a writer. I find it doesn't
answer any problems that I run into in my daily computer
work. I have wasted a great deal of time trying to adapt
the font into Word 2000 and ask for help in overriding
this useless system in its prevention of using the regular
Courier font.

See "WD97: Some Fonts Are Not Available in Word" at
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=163059. If the Courier that you were
using is a screen font, it won't matter whether you can use it or not:
Courier New will still be substituted for printing. If it's a
printer-resident font, then you should see it in Word's font list when you
have the appropriate printer selected (provided you don't have Windows set
to show only TrueType fonts).

You can still use Courier New 12 pt, but don't use Double spacing. Instead
set the line spacing to Exactly 24 pts (3 lpi). This will probably solve
your problem.
