Count of programmers using C# v. VB.NET

Mark

I'm trying to find a moderately scientific way of gauging how many VB.NET
programmers there are versus C#.NET. We are all full of opinions, but some
documented numbers would be appreciated.

For example, Google has archived 113,000 postings to this C# newsgroup, and
85,000 for the VB.NET newsgroup. Obviously, this could be affected by a
myriad of factors so they could be way off as an indicator, but right now
it's about as good as I've found.

Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

C# is new and cool. So, it could be indicative of experimentation. It could
also indicate that more people have problems with C#.

Also, note that there are multiple vb groups (4 I know of in english) and
only one with C# in the title (english, of course).

microsoft.public.dotnet.vb
microsoft.public.dotnet.vb.controls
microsoft.public.dotnet.vb.data
microsoft.public.dotnet.vb.upgrade

I agree with Greg on this. There are also more Books (or were more books
for a long time where people can find answers). To be honest, I think that
a lot of folks use both and that getting this type of info would cost some
money to even come close to getting.

No, just 42,500 questions, but he invariably has to answer them himself ;-)

And maybe less if he decides to have a technical discussion with himself. ;)

Nah, I know three of them personally... and other two I suspect :)
