Could not find a web server on port 80.

I'm trying to publish a web site to my hosting service and
keep getting the message "Could not find a web server at
www.pioneergunclub.org on port 80".

This FP2002 installation has working in the past and only
recently started this on three different web site
publishing attempts.

Any suggestions to get this to connect?

1. Make sure your firewall is configured to
grant access to port 80 for FrontPage.
2. If you have Yahoo IM installed, make sure it is
shut down, as it uses port 80 for P2P file sharing.
3. Make sure your ISP hasn't started blocking port
80 outbound.

Steve,

1. Did that, even wiped out the firewall completely with
no change in problem.
2. Never had yahoo on the machine and don't use any IM
service.
3. They assure me they block nothing from port 80.

Any other thoughts or suggestions? I believe the problem
is within FP in that it doesn't have the "server"
installed or can't find it. Neither of these do I know
how to fix.

Next Step.
With FrontPage and IE shut down,
find and delete all *.web and *.tmp files.
Then right click the IE icon on the desktop,
Select Properties, delete Temporary Internet,
History and Cookie files, then click the Programs tab.
Click "Reset Web Settings," uncheck
Reset my home page, click Ok and OK

Relaunch FrontPage, and open the web.

If no luck, post back with your Windows version.

There are no FP Server Extensions on the server at your site, or they need repair / reinstallation by your host

? Don't know. The tech guys at the hosting site wiped the
FP extensions and re-installed yesterday. They said next
step would be to wipe the entire web site and let me
publish new.

I don't think it is the hosting service. When I hit
the "publish" button in FP the little modem icon never
lights up which to me means that FP can't find a "server"
on my machine at port 80 and never sends anything out of
my machine.

I will have them wipe and re-install the FP extensions
again.

Did all that plus flushed the trash can and rebooted
before launching FP. No help - same error message.

Using Windows 2000 V5.00.2195 SP4
