Corruption

I have a databse that is split. The frontend resides on end users PC and the
backend resides on a server that is running MS Server 2000. When the backend
is on this server, it bloats and corrupts frequently. When I move the
backend to my local machine and share the folder, this problem does not
occur. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing the database to bloat
when on the server?

What service pack of Office 2000? If it still has Opportunistic Locking
enabled, that could be the cause of the problem.

The other obvious possibility is a problem with the network, but if the
route to the server is bad at some point you would probably be seeing other
symptoms as well.

Probably a bad NIC (Network Interface Card) on one of the machines
linking to it (or on the server for that matter). Access is *very*
sensitive to flakiness on the network.
